“The Working with Different Generations Training have helped me communicate more effectively with my peers and teammates.

By utilizing effective communication techniques such as clarifying and confirming, and asking open ended questions, I have been able to clarify and understand information in situations where I would have otherwise asked limited questions and made false assumptions.”
Robert Breckner | Engineering Manager | International Game Technology

Description
For the first time in history, four different generations find themselves working side-by-side. This dramatic demographic shift is the result of a number of factors including longer life spans and deferred retirements (due to personal choice or financial necessity). Today’s challenge: managers must now supervise vastly disparate working styles, as members of these diverse generations struggle to co-exist.

How does a member of “The Greatest Generation” provide direction to a tech-savvy “20-Something”? How will a “Baby Boomer” communicate institutional goals to a “Gen-Xer,” who may have grown up as a go-it-alone, latchkey kid?

Today, companies need to be especially creative to enable these different cultures to work together, despite their varied experiences and values.

Competition for jobs and promotions, not to mention the yawning technological fault line between young and old, inevitably triggers conflicts. However, savvy management can harness the strengths of each generation and leverage decades of knowledge and experience not only to survive but also to thrive amid this generational divide.

Obviously, each individual is unique. However, an examination of the motivating factors that shape generations can be an effective tool to help maximize talent.

FAQs

Organizations with multigenerational workforces benefit from a broader range of perspectives, experiences, and ideas. When managers understand how to bridge differences in communication styles, work preferences, and expectations, they improve collaboration, innovation, knowledge sharing, employee engagement, and overall team performance. The goal is not to eliminate differences, but to leverage them as a competitive advantage.

No. Effective working with different generations training moves beyond stereotypes and focuses on understanding individual motivations, communication preferences, and workplace behaviors. Participants learn practical strategies for adapting their leadership and collaboration style while treating every employee as an individual rather than making assumptions based on age.

This workshop is valuable for anyone who collaborates across age groups, including managers, supervisors, project leaders, HR professionals, customer-facing employees, and individual contributors. It is especially beneficial for organizations experiencing rapid growth, workforce transitions, succession planning, or the integration of multiple generations into cross-functional teams.

Participants learn practical techniques to communicate more effectively, build trust across generations, resolve misunderstandings before they become conflict, provide feedback that resonates with different individuals, strengthen collaboration, transfer knowledge between experienced and emerging talent, and create an inclusive team culture where employees of all ages can perform at their best.

Every organization has its own culture, business strategy, leadership challenges, and workforce demographics. The most effective programs are customized to your specific business and learning objectives, using your real workplace scenarios, communication challenges, and business priorities. This ensures participants leave with practical tools they can immediately apply to improve collaboration, strengthen relationships, and achieve measurable business results.
