“The Working with Different Generations Training have helped me communicate more effectively with my peers and teammates. By utilizing effective communication techniques such as clarifying and confirming, and asking open ended questions, I have been able to clarify and understand information in situations where I would have otherwise asked limited questions and made false assumptions.”
Robert Breckner | Engineering Manager | International Game Technology

Description:

For the first time in history, four different generations find themselves working side-by-side. This dramatic demographic shift is the result of a number of factors including longer life spans and deferred retirements (due to personal choice or financial necessity). Today’s challenge: managers must now supervise vastly disparate working styles, as members of these diverse generations struggle to co-exist.

How does a member of “The Greatest Generation” provide direction to a tech-savvy “20-Something”? How will a “Baby Boomer” communicate institutional goals to a “Gen-Xer,” who may have grown up as a go-it-alone, latchkey kid? Today, companies need to be especially creative to enable these different cultures to work together, despite their varied experiences and values.

Competition for jobs and promotions, not to mention the yawning technological fault line between young and old, inevitably triggers conflicts. However, savvy management can harness the strengths of each generation and leverage decades of knowledge and experience not only to survive but also to thrive amid this generational divide.

Obviously, each individual is unique. However, an examination of the motivating factors that shape generations can be an effective tool to help maximize talent.

By cooperating with and understanding the different people from various generations, you will learn to create a harmonious team with Traditionalists, Boomers, GenXers and Millennials.

Learning Objectives:
Participants learn how to:

  1. Recognize the characteristics of each generation
  2. Understand the diverse perspectives, motivations, and attitudes of each generation
  3. Realize the needs and expectations of your colleagues from each generation
  4. Learn to communicate across age brackets
  5. Prevent areas of possible generational conflict
  6. All exercises are customized using examples and case studies specific to your organization.

Target Audience:
Anyone who works within a diverse generational workforce

Understanding and conforming to legal compliance was very important to our company. We turned to LSA Global to provide a quality and cost effective way to ensure that we were AB 1825 compliant. Their interactive eLearning program was top-notch. It allowed our managers to learn at their own pace, and on their own time. The program was tailored to include our logo and our internal harassment policies. It was interactive and met all federal and state legal requirements. I would highly recommend LSA Global to any company looking for an efficient and effective and top quality way to train their managers to be in compliance.

A key to performance improvement is strongly linked to cultivating the proper type of motivation. Since the performance management training, I have been much more focused on identifying and discussing how our actions in Engineering create value to IGT’s success. So far, the feedback has been positive. The group appears to be more accountable for their actions, and victim loop reactions are less frequent. The value proposition for me and those groups we work with is better teamwork, higher spirits, and a better outlook for things to come in the future (renewed enthusiasm).
