Political Skills Training Program
Despite excellent intentions, many of us become victims of “behind-the-scenes” political and power dynamics in the form of turf wars, egos, and even cultural sabotage.

This high-energy intensive one-half to two-day political skills training program can be delivered live or virtually and focuses on adjusting attitudes about workplace power and politics while confronting naïveté about organizational dynamics.  It provides proven and practical political and strategic influence skills for building organizational impact with integrity.

Because politics are part of every organization, we believe that organizational savvy is a mission-critical competency for today’s leaders.

At their worst, internal workplace politics threaten an organization’s ability to achieve its desired results and block an individual’s career progress. At their best, workplace politics ensure that high-integrity, competent people achieve positive power to create high performance.

Learning Objectives
In this unique political and strategic influence skills program, participants receive a “political wake-up call” on the business need for entering the political arena with integrity.  Participants learn to:

  • Recognize the level of politics they face and read the signals that they may be under-political
  • Present and challenge ideas according to the power dynamics of the situation
  • Accept a more constructive definition of “politics at work” to become more “street smart” and strategic
  • Recognize the strengths and risks of the primary Political Power Styles at work
  • Hone proven and non-manipulative strategies for navigating corporate politics with integrity
  • Detect and navigate potentially negative actions of overly political, power-oriented colleagues, bosses, or customers
  • Learn to recognize and handle sabotage in group situations by deftly managing resistance and challenges to your credibility or position

Approach
This dynamic and highly customized political skills workshop can be delivered live or virtually.

To help create behavior change, each session uses an online Organizational Savvy self- or multi-rater assessment, concrete skill practices, customized case studies, experiential activities, break-out groups, action planning, and weekly follow-up application emails.
