During a period of consolidation in the industry, this client, a leading player in the video gaming industry, was concerned about the effect on employee morale and retention of takeover rumors, particularly for key gaming designers and programmers. They wanted to identify critical management actions to improve productivity and prevent possible turnover.

Approach

  1. Implemented a customized employee engagement survey to identify key management actions required to improve productivity and prevent possible turnover
  2. Assisted in developing a company-wide retention strategy for retaining top talent
  3. Facilitated turnover risk assessment with managers
  4. Developed retention plans for key talent
  5. Educated managers on actions they could take to improve engagement of their direct reports
  6. Certified HR staff in best practice engagement and retention methods to support and coach line managers with employee retention strategies

Results

  • Employee engagement survey data highlighted improving manager communication practices as the highest leverage development area to improve engagement and retention
  • 25% decrease in attrition among key personnel in the twelve months following interventions.
