Drawing on a menu of forty-eight competencies, you learn how to describe jobs and successful candidates. Most of the seminar time is spent on questioning techniques and role-play. Pointers are also provided on how to keep your interviews legally compliant and probe for technical competencies. Participants practice these techniques, then learn how to make the best hiring decision.
The full day interviewing training program teaches basic concepts combined with simple techniques in the five modules that follow:
1. Interviewing Basics
Name the various behavioral competencies, and know how to manage job interviews using techniques that uncover behavior-based competencies.
2. Delineating First the Job and Then the Candidate
With the aid of a list of competencies, design a Job Candidate Profile that concentrates on the specific functions and culture of your particular organization.
3. The Interview Process
Learn how to make the candidate comfortable and ask questions that are both compliant and legal. While the workshop facilitator conducts a mock interview to demonstrate the interview model, participants take notes and practice how to tune into proof of competencies.
4. The Interview Questions
Learn how to evaluate a candidate’s competencies by employing various proven questioning methods. Create your own questions. Participate in role plays to practice what you learned and receive feedback from the instructor. More than one hundred examples of questions you can use to probe for behavioral evidence will be provided.
5. The Interview Decision
Pull your notes together and set up a candidate Balance Sheet. This practical form will give you the information you need to make a sound hiring decision that fits with your Job Candidate Profile.
