Overview:

In order to build internal bench strength and have skilled employees who can be moved into the right roles at the right time, employees must take ownership for their own career development.

Career Development Training for Managers is built to facilitate workforce readiness, develop employees who are engaged in the business, and improve employee tenure. The career development programs are designed to provide employees, their managers, and internal career coaches with a clear roadmap of how to develop a career.  They also provide proven tools, assessments, and the skills required to make it happen.

Description:

Career Development Training for Managers is a one-day workshop specifically for managers.  It is designed to give managers a clear picture of their roles and responsibilities in developing the careers of their direct reports. This proven career development workshop introduces a four-step career development best practices process for the manager to follow, builds the critical skills for career development discussions, and provides a career development toolkit to support employee assessments and career path planning.

Program Objectives:

In this career development workshop, managers learn how to:

  • Understand the business case for career development efforts
  • Clarify the various roles in Career Development: (managers, employees, and the organization)
  • Identify and overcome manager barriers to career development
  • Implement a step-by-step process to guide manager career development practices
  • Help employees assess the right job fit based on their skills, natural talents, passions, and the work that the organization needs accomplished
  • Become more effective at career development interaction skills and discussions
  • Create an action plan for supporting career development on your team

Target Audience:

Any manager who wants to better develop the careers of their direct reports.

Career Development Training for Managers is often combined with our Career Development for Employees workshop and toolkit to help employees take effective ownership of their future career development.

The career development offerings share a core set of career development concepts and tools making it possible to deploy all three components together for maximum impact, combine two, or implement just one component as a stand-alone intervention.
