This fast growing services firm has a diverse set of key stakeholders that must be managed and a wide range of complex strategic initiatives that must be carefully executed while ensuring that the day-to-day operations keeps up with increased demand. 

Before creating strategic clarity as an executive team through strategy retreat facilitation, they wanted a Customized Leadership Program for an Executive Team focused on executive decision making to ready the team to agree on the big strategic choices to achieve their strategic vision over the next 2-3 years. 

The executive decision making training set the executive team up for success by exploring the mindsets, behaviors, and skills needed to direct, build, and lead a high-performing and high-functioning organization undergoing rapid change.  The session had three main areas:

  • Explore
    Based upon 1×1 executive interviews and training needs assessment results, the executive team explored current decision-making capabilities and best practices.  They then agreed how to connect decisions to their top strategic priorities to better frame, define, make, and communicate decisions that matter most for the business and the people.
  • Activate
    Once the groundwork was set, the executive team went through a strategic decision making simulation to practice making high stakes decisions with limited information.  This highly experiential process allowed the team to collectively test decision-making best practices as individual leaders and as an executive team.
  • Accelerate
    Based upon lessons learned from the simulation, each leader practiced framing and defining a real-decision that we reviewed and debriefed as a group.  As a team, they committed to two things that they needed to hyper-focus on in order to increase their decision making value and impact to best execute their strategy. 

    Lastly, the executive team identified the rules of the road that they will hold each other accountable to when debating and solving problems together during the strategy design process.
