Situation
A leading network storage systems company was experiencing rapid growth. With the passage of AB 1825, California mandatory harassment compliance training, they followed the spirit of this new law and used it as an opportunity to train all US based on key aspects of employment law.

Complications

  • Prisoners: Managers did not want to attend mandatory training on a dry subject that they perceived had little to do with their personal success.

Approach

Worked with the company’s Legal Counsel and Head of Training to customize and roll-out two foundational compliance workshops called Compliance as Springboard for Management Training:

  1. Managing Within the Law I
  2. Managing Ethically: Corporate Compliance Laws workshops

An Executive Overview of the training was first conducted for all executive staff, and an executive sponsorship program was put into place before it was rolled-out to managers clearly articulating the corporate and personal relevance of the initiative in terms of gaining a better understanding of how to manage legally to mitigate potential lawsuits, increasing awareness of business ethics, corporate code of conduct and relevant laws, and fostering an environment that promoted a respectful and productive workplace.

Results

  • 99% of all managers completed the training
  • 99% average client satisfaction rating making it the #1 rated workshop at this client
  • Gained compliance with the mandatory California harassment training requirements (AB 1825)
