Description
We know from project postmortem data that project management skills, tools, and techniques are best understood through experiential, hands-on, and relevant application.

This project management simulation training course integrates all the major project management topics and techniques into a ‘cradle-to-grave’ project simulation. It challenges project teams to run a critical project, creating the highest possible business value — on time and budget.

Participants learn what works and what does not work with a focus on achieving project success while boosting team and stakeholder involvement, commitment, and collaboration. The process focuses on developing the project management skills required to make complex decisions, prioritize efforts, and direct finite project resources to secure project, stakeholder, and overall business success.

The project management simulation includes regular ‘lessons learned’ activities to facilitate the transfer of training to the participants’ actual projects. Due to the intense team cooperation required, this is also an ideal format for gaining lessons on team dynamics and navigating complex and matrixed environments.

Objectives

Learn how to:

Manage diverse stakeholder groups. (e.g., the project steering committee, project team, project stakeholders, and end users)
Identify, recognize, and manage problems related to the iron triangle of critical cost, schedule, and quality constraints and trade-offs.
Identify internal and external project stakeholders and develop appropriate communication and expectation management plans.
Use project risk management techniques to identify risks and create appropriate response plans.
Use in-process project reviews to improve performance throughout a project.
