As part of our effort to make a measurable difference in the world, LSA Global has donated $60,000 to eradicate polio.

“The fight against Polio has made remarkable progress since 1988. That year over 350,000 children were paralyzed in over 125 countries. What if Rotary and Rotarians had not accepted the challenge to eradicate polio? Likely millions of children would have been paralyzed in this year (2014) alone, instead of only 222 children year to date. Over 10% of those infected would have died.” stated Sally Ewald, LSA Global Chairwoman Emeritus.

“We have immunized over 22 million children this year in the middle east, also over 34.2 million children in Pakistan reaching over 95% of all children under 5 years of age. Along with ongoing campaigns in Nigeria, Somalia, Guinea, Cameroon, Ethiopia, & Kenya.”

“We are in the second year of the Gates Foundation $2 for $1 contribution. Where else can a $ 1 tax deductible contribution become a $ 3 contribution towards saving children’s lives? We must again raise $ 35 million this year so that Bill & Melinda Gates will contribute an additional $ 70 million to insure that we will complete a promise made in 1988 – that one day – no parent should ever have to fear their child waking up one morning paralyzed – with little or no hope of ever leading a normal life. Thanks to you, our 1.2 million Rotarians, and our global partners around the world.”
