Project Management Professional (PMP) Exam Prep Bootcamp

Preparing for PMP Certification

Course Description:

Our project management boot camp is designed to help candidates prepare for the Project Management Professional (PMP®) Exam. The following learning objectives were determined through individual student requests, reported corporate needs, state and federal vocational training and placement programs, and course evaluation information.

Participants will learn:

  • What the PMP credential is and how the PMP credential can help with career objectives.
  • Qualification requirements for the PMP exam.
  • Professional, Social, and Ethical responsibilities of the PMP certified project manager.
  • Refreshment of project management methodology advocated by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (PMBOK® Guide)- Fourth Edition, Project Management Institute, Inc., 2008.

Upon completion of our training course, participants will be able to:

  • Accurately define and differentiate a project, project management plan, process groups, knowledge areas, inputs, outputs, tools and techniques.
  • Create key project management plan documents (e.g. Work Breakdown Structure, Statement of Work and Scope Statement).
  • Demonstrate practical knowledge of key project management techniques (e.g. Earned Value Management, Critical Path Method, Schedule Compression and Network Diagramming Methods).
  • Effectively manage a project and implement newly learned project management skills, concepts and methodology in current work processes to achieve better project results.
  • Have a plan for further education or self-directed training to ensure preparedness for the PMP exam.

This class is intended to be taken by experienced project managers who have had previous, formal education in project management.  These candidates have completed the required hours of project management work as defined to make them eligible for taking the PMP exam and are ready to review best practices and prepare to take the PMP exam.  This class is not intended for candidates beginning their education in project management as a profession.

This class is managed as an intense discussion using the book Rita Mulcahy’s PMPExam Prep, Seventh Edition as the guide for discussions, questions, clarifications, cultural alignment to the test, and planning after-class work for the candidates.  The design creates a dynamic interaction among peers who are preparing to take the PMP exam through dynamic and in-depth conversations.

We hired LSA to design and deliver a Project Post Mortem for 65 key people on a critical project with a very tight turnaround. LSA’s ability to identify the key trends, leverage points, and next steps was great. They really got to the heart of the issues in a constructive and unbiased manner that exceeded my expectations. It was not an easy task with so many skeptical people with different agendas, styles, experience, and perspectives.

The project management training program was really great. It was extremely helpful to me as a manager to be strategic during a time of explosive growth and change. It was fully customized to our industry and our needs, everyone came out of it with a solid direction of next steps, and the satisfaction scores were wonderful. It could not have gone any better. The team is still talking about it and looking forward to more. We are excited to take the next steps with LSA Global and implement the project management best practices in a way that works for our unique culture.

We recently designed and implemented two high value Project Management Workshops with LSA. The goal was to improve the fundamental project management skills for less experienced project managers and team members and to prepare our experienced project managers to become PMP certified. The programs were very well received and additional sessions have been requested. Both facilitators were excellent, building strong rapport with our scientists and taking time to encourage & answer questions. Based upon the results and the feedback around the company, the next workshops are already full. I highly recommend LSA to any company looking to take their project management skills to the next level.

They really understood our priorities and helped us learn not only the best practices in Project Management, but how to apply them to our specific environment. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to create the foundation for successful projects and project teams.
