Communication Beyond Conflict
How to Have Constructive and Respectful Conversations
Conflict and disagreement in the workplace
is not necessarily a bad thing. Constructive, respectful
dialogue can bring new ideas and fresh thinking to problem
resolution.
Unfortunately when disagreement spins out
of control or becomes the purpose for communication, there is
typically no resolution, only more and more conflict.
To “fix” this, it’s important it understand
how and why we communicate; first for ourselves and then for others.
By focusing on what it takes to inquire into another’s viewpoint and
engage in a genuine exploration of the subject, only then can we
reach conclusions and decisions.
