A major component of this change management simulation is an interactive and challenging computer-based business simulation. The session begins with an introduction to the seven stages of effective change management.

Participants then form into teams of four to six people. Each team has a laptop and they log in to a simulation in which they are expected to manage change within a company that is pursuing a new business strategy.

The goal for the teams is to get as many people within the simulated organization to understand and then buy into the proposed changes related to the new business strategy. They are expected to accomplish this within a specific budget and time frame. The latter part of the session includes discussions on the various changes going on within your organization and what needs to be done to manage the changes more effectively.

The change simulation enables participants to:

  • Explore change management theory and related best practices.
  • Experience theory in action in a sophisticated business simulation.
  • Reflect on simulation results and identify opportunities to improve.
  • Apply their learning to real-world projects.
  • Share knowledge with their peers in a collaboration space.
  • Have access to a multitude of decision support tools for each stage of the change process.

This program has been conducted in many executive MBA programs, in Fortune 500 companies as part of their ongoing leadership development, and as a key tool to help kick off a variety of critical change initiatives (mergers, acquisitions, new strategies, reorganizations, etc.).
