Building and Leading High Performance Teams
This customized and engaging learn-by-doing managing teams workshop uses small learning teams to help experienced leaders take their teams to the next level of performance.  The proven design is based on over 30 years of working with leadership teams.

5-Step Methodology:

1.  Proprietary Team Effectiveness Assessment
The proprietary online managing teams survey measures 20 management team best practices.  It is based on indications of high and low performing management teams across all the stages of team development.  Team members, their direct reports, and key stakeholders rate the team on the critical best practices. A follow-up team survey drives accountability and measures progress.

2.  Three-day Workshop
in the Building and Leading High Performance Teams workshop, leaders learn-by-doing in small teams led by an experienced master facilitator-coach. Each participant has an opportunity to lead the team and to identify key actions that apply on-the-job. These insights, coupled with practical tools, targeted feedback and peer coaching result in pragmatic leadership and management strategies that transfer directly back to the work environment.

Day One

  • 3 Principles of Managing Teams: Roles, rules and tools
  • Key Leadership Style Implications: Behavioral and style implications for team members and team leaders
  • The Leader’s Role in High Performing Teams: Beliefs, mental outlook, do’s and don’ts
  • Team Direction: Vision, processes and functioning
  • Team Trust: The starting place, the touchstone and the end

Day Two

  • Trustworthiness: Nuances of building trust, showing vulnerability, building credibility and a creating a track record of trustworthiness
  • Conflict:  Confronting and resolving conflict, instilling creativity and commitment and building a climate of open and effective conflict resolution
  • Transparency:  Balancing and maintaining self esteem and transparency
  • Management Team Effectiveness Survey Results: Analyzing, interpreting and discussing the team data

Day Three

  • Commitment: Building emotional commitment to address and resolve key team issues
  • Executing: Celebrating successes, overcoming obstacles and seeking challenges
  • Accountability: Establishing peer-to-peer accountability, building feedback loops and making direct feedback not only OK, but desirable
  • Teaming: Achieving overarching goals, breaking down silo’s, building team goals, balancing individual achievements and building an ethic of team success

Each day begins with emotional intelligence practice, followed by short presentations, small group discussions around case studies of real time situations at work, peer coaching, feedback and advice from our world class facilitator-coaches. Our “deep learning” methodology combines intellectual understanding with personal insight, and “practice, practice, practice” to build one’s leadership repertoire.

3.  Performance Coaching
We believe that learning is a process. Participants are scheduled into team teleconferences two weeks and two months after the seminar to discuss insights and implementation of their action plans. For additional support, individual one-on-one performance coaching is available for a period of six-months.

4.  Resurvey and Coaching
Eight to ten months after the seminar, resurvey are used to get feedback on their perceived efforts to improve their team performance. The Follow-up data is reviewed with the same coach who led the team at the seminar in order to reinforce improvements and identify areas for further progress.

5.  Leadership & Team Action Plan
A rigorous and actionable plan is developed and reviewed at the end of the seminar and becomes the basis for the follow-up leadership and team coaching. Each team member walks away with goals and a detailed action plan that:

  • Has been tested with organizational peers and the executive facilitator
  • Helps to develop personal mastery and leadership style
  • Has a high probability of success
  • Gets them and their team to the next level
